Jono Fletcher – World Vision

How we define poverty will determine how we try to alleviate it. Many NZ churches fund or execute models that reinforce a broken understanding of wealth, purpose and human flourishing. From the orphanage in developing countries to the food box in our local communities, we need to find better alternatives than these outdated and ultimately harmful practices. Come and explore a different way to define poverty, and a fresh way of engaging with it.

Jono Fletcher is Head of Partnerships at World Vision NZ. Leaving a career in banking and finance nearly seven years ago, he is now responsible for World Vision’s engagement with the churches, schools and young adults in New Zealand. A steep learning curve into developing effective poverty alleviation has challenged Jono to consider not only his own views on poverty, but how the wider church responds as well.
